If you receive a call purporting to be from the security department of Scenic Falls Federal Credit Union, ignore this call. This is a scam to get people to give out their card numbers. This automated system tells the person that their debit card has been blocked/deactivated and they must call a phone number and enter their debit card number and expiration date to reactivate the card. The message then says, “Thank you. You card has been reactivated”.
The fraudsters responsible for this are using the Scenic Falls name and blasting phone calls to people all over. They are calling hospitals, car dealerships, and any phone number on their list (which is probably the phone book). They did not get the phone numbers from Scenic Falls and it has nothing to do with our security being compromised. They are calling random people in the hopes that someone will give them their credit/debit card number. If you receive a call like this, do not to give out your card number or other account information.
If you have already called that number and given out your card information, you can call 800-500-1044 to have your card blocked. Be sure to monitor your account using E-teller for any suspicious activity.
